In preparation for your upcoming Executive Preventive Cardiology Examination at the Boone Heart Institute, please follow these guidelines to ensure that your examination goes smoothly:

• Please fast for 8 hours before your appointment to ensure accurate results on your blood tests.
• Drink plenty of water prior to your appointment.
• Continue to take all your usual medications.
• Wear loose fitting clothing and comfortable shoes.
• Be prepared to walk and/or jog on a treadmill for a short period of time.
• Be prepared for a two hundred meter walk across the hospital campus, to the CT Scan machine.  Bring a coat if cold weather is expected.
• Women should avoid wearing bras with underwires, as they can interfere with the CT Scan.
• The complete evaluation typically takes approximately 4 hours to complete.

 

Upon completion of your evaluation, you will be mailed a detailed summary of our findings, along with personalized medical recommendations.  In addition, we will provide you with the appropriate forms to submit to your insurance, for reimbursement for some or all of our preventive cardiology testing.
